ESD Hazards in Micro-Assemblies
Electrostatic attraction of micro-dust and gate-oxide breakdown in relays. Triboelectric charging on vibratory bowl feeders and PPU grippers generates peak voltage up to 12kV. Uncontrolled static leads to two major failure modes: surface particle adhesion causing contact resistance drift, and dielectric breakdown of relay gate oxide under nanosecond ESD pulses.

Fan vs Bar Ionizer

High-Frequency AC Technology: Evaluating Panasonic ER-VW and ER-F fan ionizers
High-frequency AC corona discharge eliminates residual charge without DC offset. We benchmark Panasonic ER-VW and ER-F fan ionizers against bar-type ion air bars. The core technical indicator: ion balance < ±10 V at 300 mm working distance, neutralization decay time ≤0.8 s for charged plastic and metal relay components.

Installation Engineering: Positioning ionizers above vibratory bowl tracks and pick-and-place grippers
Mount fan-type ionizers vertically 250 mm above bowl feeder tracks to neutralize triboelectric charge during component sorting. Install bar-type ion air bars horizontally above PPU pick-and-place stations to remove static before component gripping. Avoid direct airflow hitting relay contacts; airflow shall be set to low gear to prevent part displacement. Download layout drawings for Pick and Place Unit (PPU)

Ion Balance and Neutralization Decay Time: Achieving < ±10 V balance within 300 mm
Ion balance directly determines latent ESD damage. Fan-type ionizers deliver uniform ion airflow over a 120° coverage area. Bar-type ionizers form a planar ion curtain with compressed air supply. Maintain working distance strictly between 200–300 mm; keep emitter needle cleaning cycle within 30-day intervals to prevent ion drift beyond ±10V tolerance.
